This is Jo’s 40th season coaching the Town of Tonawanda Aquettes!!  Her synchro career began at the age of 12 swimming under Dorothy Sowers, the founder of TTA.  Jo has coached athletes to reach amazing achievements such as competing at the USA Olympic Trials, Sports Festival, Empire State Games, Junior Olympics, UANA Junior Pan American Games, US Collegiate National Championships, US Senior nationals, and the US Open. Her outstanding choreography is known world-wide, and her teams have won gold at the US National Age Group Championships a handful of times.   Jo’s token saying of “One More Time” has proven that practice makes perfect!  In 1992 she started the synchro team at Canisius College where she led them to 12 straight conference wins and east regional titles, and many of her athletes were named DI All-Americans.  She has since been inducted into the Canisius College Athletics Hall of Fame.  In 1995 she won East Zone Coach of the year and 1997 USA Developmental Coach of the Year.   In 2010 she won USA Collegiate Synchro’s Contributor of the Year award for her amazing contributions to the collegiate athletes and teams. And, in 2011 Jo was honored with USA Synchro’s Mackellar Distinguished Service Award.  This was for her outstanding service to an age group club and her community. TTA is lucky to have her as a coach, judge, friend, and leader!
