Anita Alvarez

Congratulations Anita!

It’s not often that a high school student is brave enough to move across the country to pursue an Olympic bid. That’s just what our very own Anita Alvarez did in October of 2013. Born and raised in Tonawanda, Anita made the decision to relocate to California so that she could train on the USA synchronized swimming Junior National Team. Her dedication truly began to pay off when she was eventually moved up to the Senior National Team. Along with Mariya Koroleva (Concord, Calif.), Anita was recently selected for the duet for the 2016 U.S. Olympic qualification synchronized swimming team.

We are lucky enough to say that Anita has multiple ties to the Aquettes. She began her successful synchronized swimming career here with us, and Karen Alvarez, Anita’s mother, is the Town of Tonawanda Aquettes head coach. We are bursting with pride for Anita and all of her hard work.
